Reflection 10
It was interesting because at the end of class we were discussing what the future of books will be. The next day I was waiting for a doctors appointment and I picked up an May 2010 Oprah magazine. I was flipping through the pages and I found an article on what the future of books will be. The author was talking about how libraries give character to a person's house and the feel of a room. When a person opens a book there is a certain smell and memory of reading that book when you are done. Most of the time when people read information on the computer it is something they will soon forget or it was something quick they just wanted to look up. But after reading your favorite novel one will not forget the powerful words that were on each paper page. The author went on to say how much joy there is when one reads a good book. No one really knows what the future of books will be, but hardback and paperback books can never be replaceable.

I totally agree with this. I think books are so important. I would hate to read everything online. I mean besides the fact that it cannot be good for your eyes to stare at a screen that long, I like having something to hold while I am reading. You can't get comfortable on your bed or a couch if you are holding a computer in your hand. Although i'm sure there is some way to add little notes on a computer text, it is not the same as your own personal text. And, even though its totally for show, I think it is very impressive when people have books in their house that they have read, are reading or whatever. It shows intellegence and lets face it, that is attractive. :) Anyway, I guess we do not know the future of books, but I hope they stay physical and don't become electronic!
